Dogs are also domesticated animals that have been raised over a long period by humans as companion and also referred to as man’s best friend. Moreover, the first domesticated animal in the animal species are dogs, and have been reared by humans for quite a long period. Dogs are of different size, shape, and colors and perform different roles including, providing security, pulling loads, hunting and herding. Dogs also perform duties which some seem impossible. Some these duties include, providing military companionship, assisting the physically disabled people as well as offering therapeutic duties. The most common types of dogs include, guard dogs, working dogs, hunting dogs, companion dogs, and herding dogs.
When an individual or a family wants to breed a dog, there are basic commands that they need to teach the dog, these include, sit, come, down, stay, and leave it command. When training a dog, it is essential to start with the sit command since it Is considered as the easiest dog respect command to teach. When training the sit command, the dog owner need to follow the following steps, these include, holding a treat close to the dog’s nose, this is followed by moving the hand upward and allowing the dog`s head to trail the treat and causing its back to move downwards, once the dog is in a sitting position, the instructor needs to say sit. Once the dog has mastered the sit command, the owner needs to train the dog to sit before mealtime, when leaving for walks, and during situations that the owner would like the dog to calm and seated.
On the other hand, the down command is considered to a difficult command in dog training obedience since it is a submissive position, however, the trainer need to find a good smelling food for the dog and hold it closed in his hand, then he need to hold the hand up to the dog`s nose and when the dog sniffs the food, the instructor needs to move his hand to the floor so that the dog follow, once the dog`s` head is on the floor, one needs to slide their hand along the ground in front of the dog so as to encourage the dog`s` body to move forward and follow its head, once the dog is in a down position, the owner need to say down and the give the dog the food.
The stay command should be initiated when a dog has perfectly learned the sit command, these steps involved in the stay command include, asking the dog to sit, this is followed by opening palm of their hand in front of the dog and then say stay, then take a few steps back and give the dog food if it stays. It is advisable to train a dog the leave it command since it can prevent a dog from harm in the event that it wants to smell something hazardous.
